Victorian Goldfields Ride (VIC) 5 – 8 May

A NEW Bike for Bibles ride with a difference…
We’ll be based in Castlemaine and riding from there to explore the historic and beautiful Victorian Goldfields area. Accommodation and Meals for this ride will be a “do it yourself” arrangement. There is a large variety of accommodation available in Castlemaine, at varying price levels.
Why not get together a group of friends and have a great long weekend together and join the larger group for a few meals out and a great ride each day.
Each morning we will meet for coffee at a more civilised hour and head off for a group ride of 70 to 90 km (longer options available). This will be followed by great coffee, regional food, history, heritage, arts and culture. The afternoons and evenings will be free to explore the goldfields area.
Non-riders are welcome on this 4 day getaway.

TO JOIN THIS RIDE
- Book your own accommodation (Castlemaine Tourist Office phone 1800 171 888)
- Complete Registration form and return by Tuesday 1 May
- Fundraise or sponsor yourself
- Meet at 8:45am on Saturday 5 May at Republic Cafe (Old Fire Station – Corner Templeton and Frederick Streets – see google map). We’ll ride at 9, so please arrive earlier if you want a coffee to start. We’ll ride to Maldon and beyond as the group decides (40-80km)
- We’ll have some lunches and dinners together, but there is time to do your own thing as well.
- For Sun/Mon/Tue daily rides and meeting place and time will be decided the day before by the group. There may be 2 options.
- For the Women, there’s an exhibition of Princess Grace (Kelly’s) clothes in nearby Bendigo

Hi Steve,
We are travelling in our van with tandem bike and kayak. Can we join your ride if we get to Castlemaine by May 4? We’ll book into a carvan park, I presume!
We had plans to do some Vic railtrails – done the one to Lakes Entrance – wold like to do the Myrtleford to Mt Beauty one – is that right?
Hope we make it to join you. We love coffee as well as riding – have done 3 BIG BFB rides with Jim Blaxland, including Perth – Sydney in 2006! That was great, but we are ready for less ambitious ones now!

We would be delighted for you to join us at Castlemaine!
As you suggest, you will need to make your own accommodation from Friday night or Saturday onwards. Castlemaine is heavily booked that for Fri and Sat as there is a music festival in Bendigo, but there is still some accommodation available.
We’re planning to meet each day at a reasonable hour (8-9 ish depending on group consensus) and doing rides in the area, and will most likely start and finish each day in Castlemaine (subject to group interest).
We’ll need a registration form for each of you.
