Cadel Evans has EVERY reason to smile!

This photo was taken on Friday (12 August) when Federation Square and St Kilda Road (Melbourne) were full of people – all there to see Cadel Evans – TDF winner 2011 – conqueror of one of the most elusive monuments in world sport!
Well done Cadel! And greatly deserved after many years of persistent efforts!
I’m a happy man! In my lifetime I’ve seen Australia II win the Americas Cup in 1983, and Cadel win the TDF in 2011. I’m now looking forward to seeing if Cadel can go back to back next year, and I hope to live to see the day when the last world sporting monument is conquered and the Australian Captain holds the FIFA World Cup aloft ! There”ll be plenty of Aussies celebrating that day!
Until then, Congratulations Cadel – you are a role model of sportsmanship, determination and humility.

It was a fantastic victory for sure, one that I have been hoping would happen for a long time.
Well done Cadel!
I agree. Very often, hard-earned success is far more satisfying for the participant, and also for those watching!
